Link's Farm Covered Bridge
Giles County, Virginia 
(WGN:  46-35-02) (WGCB:  VA-35-02):  (1912; repaired 1995) (Private)  Single-span Queenpost truss variant modified with iron rods 49' over Sinking Creek.   Located:  West of Newport, Virginia on bypassed section of Mountain Lake Road (SSR 700).  From Newport, Virginia at the jct. of US 460 and SR 42 (Blue Grass Trail), go north 1.0 mile on SR 42 to left on Clover Hollow Road (SSR 601) and just past the Sinking Creek Covered Bridge (WGN: 46-35-01) go left on SSR 604 to left on Mountain Lake Road (SSR 700).  Once you make the left turn onto Mountain Lake Road turn right at the next road to a parking area near the bridge.  The bridge can be seen at the the intersection of SSR 604 and SSR 700.  On private property so request permission to visit.  The bridge was bypassed in November 1949.  At only 12' 1" wide, the Bridge is the narrowest Historic covered motor vehicle bridge in Virginia.  It still carries private motor vehicle traffic.  When visited in October 2003 there was evidence that some needed repairs were being made to the bridge.  When revisited in March 2004, the repairs had been accomplished.  It has been reported that the structure received significant damage to its bottom chords when Sinking Creek flooded during tropical storm Gaston in October, 2004.
