Hokes Mill Covered Bridge
Greenbriar County, West Virginia 
(WGN 48-13-02)  (WGCB WV-13-02):  (c. 1899; rehabilitated 2002)  A single-span Queenpost/Long combination truss 81'  6" over Second Creek.  Located:  West of Ronceverte, West Virginia in Hokes Mill, West Virginia on bypassed section of Hokes Mill Road.  Directions:  From I 64 take Exit 169, US 219 south to Ronceverte, West Virginia.  Turn right on River Road (CR 48) at the end of the second bridge as you leave town.  Continue on CR 48 for 3.7 miles to right on CR 62 (Hokes Mill Road) for 1.4 miles to the bridge, visible from the highway, on the left.  Originally built at a cost of $200.00 and provided access to Hokes Mill.  The bridge is owned by the state of West Virginia.  There is a plaque on the bridge stating:  "CBRO 625 001E ALLEGHENY RESTORATION AND BUILDERS INC BUILT CIRCA 1899 BRIDGE NO 4363 REHABILITATED 2002."  It was bypassed and closed in 1991 but after rehabilitation is has been reopened to pedestrian traffic.  The bridge is one of two Covered Bridges remaining in Greenbrier County.  It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on June 4, 1981.  (Nov 2003, Mar 2004)
