rehabilitated 2003) A single-span Queenpost truss 39' 8" over
the Right Fork of the West Fork River. Located: In Walkersville,
West Virginia on Big Run Road (CR 19-17). Directions:
From Walkersville, West Virginia take US 19 south 1.3 miles after the Green
Steel Truss Bridge, just after Crane Camp Run Road (CR 44-7), on the right,
to Big Run Road (CR 19-17), on the right. Follow 0.2 mile to the
bridge. Built at a cost of $567 the bridge was repaired and
repainted in 1963 and rehabilitated in 2003. The bridge is owned
by the state and is still in service. Also known as the Old Red
Covered Bridge. It was simultaneously listed with ten other historic
covered bridges in West Virginia on the National Register of Historic Places
on June 4, 1981. (Jun 2005) |
